Went out to Decker Saturday morning to fish for large mouths.  Got there about 6:30 AM.  Water ranged from 71-74 degrees.  Started out with top water and caught 3.5 lber.  As sun came up switched to white spinner bait and snagged 2 slot fish.  They stopped hitting the spinner bait so I switched to soft plastic green and brown salamander with red flakes T/R and caught another 6 slot large mouths  and 1 undersized.  Fish the edges of the lake along the reeds.  Got off the water about 1:00 PM.
Weather was great except a little windy at times.

Not a bad day on Decker.  A couple of the fish were a little beat up making me think they are starting to spawn.

There was also a kayak tournament going on.  Lots of kayaks spread all over the lake.

You said you started at 6:30 I looked at the park website and said it opens at 7 a.m. I am planning on heading out on Sat or Sunday will be my first time there. What is the earliest time I can launch and do you have to leave at 10 pm or can you leave later? Thanks

It is hit or miss if they open it early or not. Some mornings I have gotten there at 6 and the gate is open and other times they do not open until closer to 8. A long time ago they used to leave it open 24/7 but due to the crime in the area they started locking it.
