Fished Decker today.  Couldn't ask for better weather, but could've asked for better fishing.  Fished from around 12:30 til 6pm, and caught a grand total of 1 LM at about 17 inches on a spinner.  Saw XxThunderxX out there today and looks like he struck it rich on hybrids again.  Man.......that guy is the hybrid king!!  Oh well, there's always next time!!

Your story of the camry rear-ending you reminded me of a similar misfortune. About 12 yrs ago, I was in school in Dallas and looking forward to fishing Ray Roberts for the whole week of spring break. I got on IH35 heading north to the lake in heavy stop-n-go traffic, so characteristic for Dallas. About half way to the lake, WHAM!, dude rear ends me and crushes my motor and breaks transom mount and prop etc.
Turned around after getting insurance info and headed for repair shops. Earliest they could get the parts was 1 week, had to be ordered, so my spring break plans appeared screwed. But I said "hell, I'll buy a canoe." And although it made poor financial sense at the time, I did fish that week and hammered good bass on Ray Roberts from the canoe. So good luck with your kayak! Hope the boat's fixed soon!

BTW, I did see a guy catching bass from near the reeds in a kayak way over near the discharge at Decker last weekend. Substantial paddle!

Hello all,
I have been reading this forum for a few weeks now and decided to register. Seems to be many helpful individuals here with lots of good information. I am fairly new to the Austin area and am discovering all of the fishing opportunities within reach. After reading several threads, I am inclined to hit Decker tomorrow with my son (nothing like watching a kid get a fish!). I have never been to this lake so I know nothing about it. Would someone be kind enough to provide a “reader’s digest” version of the lake’s geography? I know it’s tough to do so without a map to visualize, but references like “NW side of lake” would be helpful. We fish catch and release and will probably try for black and/or whites/stripers. Any info about the lake would be appreciated.
