Are there any community ponds in this area that anyone is allowed to fish?

I found a pond in a community close to me that had a sign that said residents and guests only(but it’s not gated or anything).

anyone know of some that don’t mind anyone throwing a line?

There are a lot of bass in the San Gabriel River as it winds thru Georgetown. I know Round Rock has a lot of parks with ponds and parks with access to Brushy Creek.

The only times I’ve fished the San Gabriel is at “The Steps”, a place I recommend you put on your calendar for the sand bass spawning run in Feb/March. “The Steps” is east of 95, so not that close to G-town. I’ve never fished the part of the river that runs thru the city of Georgetown, but there are reports on this site that are several years old.

As far as snakes, the short answer is always beware of snakes. I’ve seen a lot of harmless diamondback water snakes, but I’ve also nearly stepped on a diamondback rattlesnake on the bank of a pond in Round Rock.
