Lake: Choke Canyon
Date: 02-19-2011
Weather: Temperatures in the 70's overcast in the morning and clearing in the afternoon. Very windy in the afternoon with gusts 20-30 in the afternoon.
Water Conditions: Stained in the coves. Temps around 61-69.
Summary:
The spawn bite was on when the water temps got to 69. North portion of the lake. The rest of the time was no good. Caught them on watermelon and black/blue lizards.
They have great campgrounds and lots of wildlife including turkeys, pigs, and alligators.
Learned in high waves to trim the motor way up and take an angled approach into the wave. Others have tips?
Also, anyone know what the fish do when they're spawning then the temps drop lower? Back into the channels, stay put?
