"Awesome" does not come close to describing the fishing.  A buddy from Bryan and I went to Choke on Thursday and Friday and we absolutely smoked em.  We caught a couple of fish in water deeper than 5 feet but most of our fish came in two feet of water or less.  We never went up the river.  We caught 20+ per day with three really nice ones.  Caught fish on chatterbaits, traps, square bills, T-rig, C-rig, and football jigs.  Only baits we could not get bit were topwaters which didn't make sense as the water we were fishing was 68-72 degrees.  The following three big fish were all caught in water less than two feet deep.

We stayed at Choke Canyon Lodge. That's the best place to stay imo.
