Freshwater (Choke Canyon) Capt. Carroll Atkinson
FOUND IT ON CORPUS CHRISTI CALLER TIMES NEWS:
Fishing has been slow lately. A 10.2-pound bass this past week 12 feet of water on a Texas-rigged YUM Dinger. I’d start the day throwing topwater frogs around grass and potholes. Work the outside edges with top waters such as a Zara Spook or Pop R. Later throw a Carolina-rigged Senko or a lizard with an eighth-ounce weight and a 3/0 hook on a two-inch leader. Work them slowly along grass edges in depths of 10 to 15 foot in coves and points.

Choke Canyon Reservoir — The lake is full or nearly so (http://www.nueces-ra.org/CP/CITY/passthru/index.php). Got one report of a 10-pound bass caught on a Texas-rigged Senko in 12 foot of water, but they’re not saying where. Anglers caught mostly small bass this week along banks in thick hydrilla or just outside thick hydrilla. Topwaters early and then Texas-rigged lizards later. Bass mostly were at points and protected coves. Newly flooded grass and brushy banks produced a few bass on spinnerbait and buzzbaits. Catfish remain in the flooded stickups in depths of 4-8 foot on cheesebait. Visit www.tpwd.state.tx.us/park/choke/choke.htm
