Day Fished: 11/10/09-7:00-2:15
Clear skies with 15 mph North breeze

Fished Fayette yesterday with a co-worker and my dad. Started off on points trying to get a shallow top water bite with very little luck. Managed a nice chunk on a topwater around the cat tails near Oak Thicket Ramp and lost another one on a buzz bait. Unlike a few weeks ago, no luck on shallow cranks or spinnerbaits. Moved over to Buzzard Pt and caught about 5 on cranks and c/r worms from 5-15' of water near grass. Then moved onto a secondary pt in Johnny's Cove and got into a nice school of fish in 5-10' of water. Caught close to 45 over the next few hours. A few on mid diving cranks but most came on C/R rigged Kicker Fish Wacky Finesse worms or Zoom Lizzards in Junebug. Tried other worms but got more bites on these 2 baits. About half were under 15" and the other half were slot fish. Bite finally slowed and we moved over to the point near the intake and found another nice school of slot fish. Same pattern, a few on cranks but most on C/R Finesse worms or ring fry in 8-10' of water. Hard to believe, but we boated 65-70 and had another 5-10 jump off near the boat. Big bass was right at 4#s with a few in the 3-4# range. By far, our best numbers day this year. Love having "bass thumb". Good luck.

You did much better than my wife and I. We fished for 3-1/2 hours and ended up with eleven fish. But we only fished two areas.

I thoght I had 3/4 of a tank of fuel in the boat, but as I was headed out accross the lake, my gage showed less than a 1/8. There for I wasn't able to fish the areas I wanted to fish, but we still had a good time.

I may know why my gas tank was so low now. I mentioned to my wife that I had I just checked the tank the day before we went fishing and there was at least ¾ of a tank of gas in it.

Anyhow, I filled the boat up that same day when we returned home from the lake and I told my wife that I suspect our teenage friends next door may have helped themselves to some of the boat gas. She said no way, but I just checked the fuel gage and it looks like someone has helped themselves to another five to eight gallons last night or the night before. Anyhow, I have set up a little bobby trap just for grins to see if is this taking place or not.

I would figure out a way to get another tank in there and fill about 3/4 with water and mix some gas in it so it has the smell / taste.

Ouch!  Maybe the bear trap would be easier on them...

I'd hate to punish an engine for a fool's deed. Remember, the engine is an innocent bystander...

I’m not a vindictive person. I’m not out to harm these folks, I just want to see if these guys are stilling my fuel. If so, then I’ll camp out and catch these rats in person. They will be held hostage till the police arrive, that’s for sure. If they run, then they run, but I’ll also have all of this filmed with night vision on my camcorder and I can turn the DVD over to the police and let them take care of it.

So far no one has made another attempt to get my gas. I took a metal rake and broke the ground up a little around the tank area so they would at least leave some foot prints. Plus I put a trip line with sewing thread that should snap with ease when they walk through it.

We went camping for three days this past weekend, and as we were loading up the truck, one of the guys asked if we were going camping for the weekend, and he also asked if I was taking my boat. I told him we were going camping and no I wasn’t taking the boat. So I figured the tank would have been empty by the time we got home, but they didn’t mess with it. But there were a couple of bare foot prints in the dirt.. So I am still a little concerned about who is doing what.

But like the old story goes, give a person enough rope and they will hang themselves sooner or later. It’s just a matter of time before I catch one these sorry rats. :(
