Day Fished: 11/10/09-7:00-2:15
Clear skies with 15 mph North breeze
Fished Fayette yesterday with a co-worker and my dad. Started off on points trying to get a shallow top water bite with very little luck. Managed a nice chunk on a topwater around the cat tails near Oak Thicket Ramp and lost another one on a buzz bait. Unlike a few weeks ago, no luck on shallow cranks or spinnerbaits. Moved over to Buzzard Pt and caught about 5 on cranks and c/r worms from 5-15' of water near grass. Then moved onto a secondary pt in Johnny's Cove and got into a nice school of fish in 5-10' of water. Caught close to 45 over the next few hours. A few on mid diving cranks but most came on C/R rigged Kicker Fish Wacky Finesse worms or Zoom Lizzards in Junebug. Tried other worms but got more bites on these 2 baits. About half were under 15" and the other half were slot fish. Bite finally slowed and we moved over to the point near the intake and found another nice school of slot fish. Same pattern, a few on cranks but most on C/R Finesse worms or ring fry in 8-10' of water. Hard to believe, but we boated 65-70 and had another 5-10 jump off near the boat. Big bass was right at 4#s with a few in the 3-4# range. By far, our best numbers day this year. Love having "bass thumb". Good luck.
