Waiting for Z to post but he must be tied up so here goes. Hopefully Z will add pics and info later.

It was a slow day at the office, so I give Zdawg a call. I say, hey hows that new ride, any chance you can get a kitchen pass for a couple of hours this evening.
He calls me back 30 min later with kitchen pass in hand and says your on. ;D
I had no plans to go fishing when I left for work. So all i have is a med spinning outfit and my plastics bag(keep it handy just in case I can steel an hour to fish a bank). Even being light on tackle and equipment I wanted to show the BASS CHUMP that ABFers can fish. :p
Anyhow so I show up after getting lost(another story) to the southshore ramp with a pole, a bag of plastics and a case of miller lites. And I see it, Z's new boat
Gotta say Z that is a sweet ride. Wind is blowing 20 mph and the water is rough and Z takes me across the lake at 55 - 60 MPH. Rode smooth. Got right up on top and floated across the waves. NICE
So after the boat ride its time to fish. ;)
As for the conditions you know it was windy and not sure what the water temp was. I didnt notice.

I opt for a Grande Bass mutant in watermellon/red flake (come to find out at the end of the evening, Z's sitting there thinking to himself as I am rigging up he's gonna have to give me some baits I can catch fish with. I can see why they call em Bass Chumps :-X) So I rigg up the mutant with a 1/4 oz bullet weight and A 3/0 hook. I must say for just a very short period I felt bad for Z. We fished from 6:30 - 8:30 and I caught 12 fish to his 2. ;D Sorry Z
My first 10 came on the mutant. Z's came on a Shakey head worm. He was getting bit just couldnt set the hook :p About 8:00 Z says I have to catch one on top. He rigs up one of his poles with Topwater swim shad and hands me the pole. It has been a while since I have done any top water fishing. The first hit i forget to count to 3 before setting the hook. Hook comes flying out of the water when i go to set the hook. Almost beans Z in the head. Rookie mistake. :-/
Then I catch my last 2 fish on Top. What A blast. Z spent 8 - 8:30 just manuvering the boat and putting me on a topwater bite. What a guy/guide. Of course he had 3 beers in that half hr ::)

At 8:30 we go back to the dock and spend the next 2 hours drinking beer, telling stories, and sharing tips. A perfect ending to a fantastic nite.

Z knows Bastrop extremely well. So if you have any questions when it comes to Bastrop I would ask Z. ;)

Thanks Again Z had a great time.

Here's a few pics from last night. Jim did put it on me on my own lake. We ended up with about 20 and Jim caught most of em  :p

Had a great time, drank a few, caught a few, and the coversation was great. Hope to do it again soon. If anyone needs a backseater, Jim is a good stick and cool dude.

BTW, those fish are good 3.5/4lber's but Jim is SOOOO freakin big he makes em look like shad!!!   ;D

Here is what Z is doing.

He is sandbagging you when you go out and fish with him like you did. That way he sucks a few ABF boys out to his Bastrop T's and then sneaks up behind you at weigh in with a sack full of dinks and takes all your money.

I know your games dude!

Nice boat Z!

Take Care

Nice rig Z, my buddies were out there yesterday and sounds like they caught a mess of fish too. Gotta love Bastrop, just wish it was closer to Cedar Park!

About the deck...I like it...some don't...easy to clean, no slippage...as for how hot it gets, no hotter than any other boat I've been in. Cool thing is that I don't have to buy a shop vac and spot remover ;)

Speaking of, I really need to help BigDub clean his deck. We have made a mess of his carpet this last month...

Hi everyone, im still pretty new to this site, I like reading everyones good stories. I went to Bastrop last week for the first time. I didnt no where to fish or anything. I have to say it is a nice lake, I launched the South Shore. I am 23 and had a day off of work, brother couldnt get out of work so i headed off without him. I tied the boat off at the courtesy dock fixed the poles really quick. Casted out to get a quick knot out of the line, fixed it so I was reeling it back in when I caught a nice LMB(casted towards the weed line). I pulled it in thinking it was a small one, not much of a fight. In length it was the biggest bass I have caught, but the looks of it was weird. After a bass spawns does it look very (sunk in). I am probably not describing this as good as I could but I have never seen a bass like this, it should have weighed ALOT more then it did. (3LBS) . My luck was on the TR Worms, and also watermellon seed/pumpkinseed crawfish.(crawfish I casted it almost on shore and pulled SLOWLY to deeper water.

After the whole trip of 2 1/2 hours I caught 5 LMB.

Any help on this lake of where about to fish would be appreciated. Or what baits are working right now.

Thanks,

I drive a 1983 Maroon and white skeeter Merc 150 hope to meet yall on the lake one day
