Went to Bastrop this morning all alone with 5 rods rigged with various swimbaits. The fish for me were some what shallow all coming off any little cut or point in the grass you could find but you had to be in the wind. I only caught 7 fish which for me on Bastrop is incredibly slow but every fish I caught was over 3lbs the biggest going around 5lbs. I threw Luck E Strike Bass Magic 4.5", Money Lures Money Minnow 5", LFT 5.5", and Mattlures Ultimate Bluegill. Everything caught fish with the exception of the big blue gill. I did have 4 strikes one it and had one load up but not hook up which has me ready to go out and try again. Probably try Travis in the morning.

Sounds like a good outing considering you only threw swimbaits. I've been getting into the swimbait craze a little lately and caught a 5lb'er on the bass magic 6" swimbaits the other day. They're a lot of fun, especially if your going for quality over quantity.

Good Job Daniel,

I ended up cooking 2 briskets today,,, which took up all of my fishing time. You are going to have to teach me how to fish those swimmies.

Whenever your ready......im actually still trying to get the hang of it. I think it would have been a little better if the water would have been a little more clear. I had alot of short strikes when I was in dirtier water but when I found the clear water I caught fish.

Nice job!

It was good to meet you at the dock yesterday morning. My buddy and I did pretty good and had some pretty decent size to boot. Most of our fish were in the slot and hanging around 2-3 pounds. I threw a swimbait (Berkley hollow belly) for a bit but didnt give it an honest effort. We should compare notes on the different swimaits out there and see what is working, etc. There is a lot of mass produced stuff coming on the market swimbait-wise and I am sure the cream will rise to the surface before too long.
