Body of Water: Bastrop
Weather Conditions: 45 FOGGY!
Water Conditions: Warm 74-79
Date(s) Fished: 11/1/09

Details of Trip: Launched the Yak at north shore this morning at daylight. It was pretty foggy this morning so I stuck close the the park till the fog broke. Caught a 4-8 early on a topwater. Picked up a 3.0 on a spinnerbait and a 2-2 on a rat-l-trap. caught one more and it was a dink. I did a lot of exploring to get ready for the AKF tournament coming up on the 14th so 1/2 my time was spent paddling around. Below are some shots I took early in the morning.

I tell ya what though. It took me building up some nerve to cross the lake in that fog. I had visions of getting plowed over by a bass boat! I waited till it was quite as could be and then just used the power lines as reference and paddled like a SOB

I was out there Sat. in the fog and got turned around. Had to watch the depth finder just to find the shore :-/
What I did (and recommend) was to keep the whistle in my mouth as I paddled...when I'd hear a PB (everyone was just idling around due to the <5' visibility) I'd give it a toot. Lights (no matter how bright) were useless

I was out there as well that morning, and hung out by the dam till the fog cleared. Herzog, do you have a rough guesstimate on how many yakkers will be at your tournament on the 14th, and what are your times.
That is the AKF tourney, not one of mine. Last i heard there was 26, but I imagine that the number will grow quite a bit. Ask Dennis (AKFHermes) he will know more. All the details can be found at the following link

Is there a way to let the AKF know that there is another tourney with bass boats on the same day. The Canyon Bass Club of San Marcos will be fishing 630-230. I have already let everyone in the CBC know about the yak fishermen. Thanks
Yeah....I just let him know.

The biggest thing for me is.....if it is foggy...just make sure ya'll dont go plowing through the fog at 70 mph. For the most part most of us will be fishing the shorelines for the exception if we need to cross the lake.
