Fished last evening 6:30 to 9pm.  Target grass edges with soft plastics and swimbaits.   Current was strong.  Visibility was 3 to 5 feet.  water temp just above 61-62.

Caught 2 fish.....a 6lb-15oz and a 5lb-2oz. Released after the picture

Why is the water temp at LA only 61-62 when the water temps at Travis have been in the upper 70s? That's like a 15-20 degree difference!

The water temp on Travis is surface temp. The water entering Austin is from the depths of Travis.

I am guessing because of Devil's Cove.  When you have hundreds of people gathered around drinking all day there is only one logical place to use the bathroom.  

It only makes sense that after several hundred gallons of fluid that is 96 degrees in temperature enters the water it creates warmer water.

Speaking of Devil's, I'll be out this weekend doing my part to help raise the water level of Travis and add to the warming trend!
