Can someone help me understand why you are weighing in 3 fish, but only 1 will count?
That actually was what I was wondering. Seems kinda unnecessary. Seems like it should be more like 2 at most, that way at least both team members could weigh something in.

My original post disappeared, too, so here goes again: Any idea about how many boats are expected for this event?

My guess would be if you have 3 fish that are very similar in weight, since the scale you use in the boat may not be as accurate as the official scales you can bring 3 to the scales to see which is the biggest one. Like the big fish that have been posted, the hand held scale read one thing the official scale something different. Plus more than 1 spot are being paid, you and partner might have a 14lber a 13lber and a 12lber.

WHILE I AM A MEMBER OF ATX I AM NOT AN OFFICIAL FOR THIS EVENT....ONLY A GUESS ON MY PART.

Gary is mostly right on. ONLY ONE FISH COUNTS. Basically, we are ALLOWING you to weigh in 3 fish if you feel like it's really necessary. Say if you catch 3 fish that all look like they're 8-9lbs, we will weigh all three to get an official weight on which one is actually the biggest. Only your heaviest fish will count. Therefore, you can only claim one place. One team cannot walk away with the money for 1st and 2nd place. We made it this way so that people would feel like they've got a shot at walking away with some money. We didn't want guys to feel like they don't have a chance at winning anything if some of the guys who are known for big fish on Austin show up.

As for how many boats we are expecting, honestly, I don't have a clue... but I am inclined to say that we're expecting a good turnout. We've advertised quite a bit for this T and have gotten a positive reception from many people. We passed out 500 fliers for this event as well as advertised it on at least 8 popular TX related fishing websites that I can think of on the internet. If I HAD to take a guess, I'm going to say that I will be very surprised if at least 25 boats don't show up. I expect we'll have more than that though and that the 50 number is very likely. What do I know though? We'll see how the cookie crumbles.

We've made arrangements for the gate to be open nice and early. I don't remember what time exactly as it was Temple that took care of that one. I just know that it will be open early. I wouldn't worry about getting there before it opens. If you'd like, we're also allowing for people to launch elsewhere, but make sure you come over to City Park by water for check-in before the tournament starts.

Sure wish I could be there. Take some good pictures for we who can't make it. The lake seems real hot-cold. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

yes I paid the City to open the gates at 5am for us. Ander will be at the gates if anyone has any questions, I'll be down at the ramp doing check in. You can launch from ANYWHERE, just check in with me at the ramp first, then take off.

First cast at 7am.

Also guys, I'm going to have the scales set up all day. If you get a big one, you can come in and weigh it and get some pics and get 'er back in the water. I don't want to see someone running around all day with a 10+lb fish in your livewell.
