Travis McGuire took big bass honors in his Lee County Bass Club event today with this 10.31 lb. beautiful bass . Travis reports all his fish in his limit came on Dd22's in 10 ft. of water or less . Lot of fish have moved shallow . Looks like an exciting week of warming temperatures. Time to get after it .

Angler - Brendan Kennell - 2/13/2011 - 11.70 lbs. - crankbaits still doing the trick relatively shallow in 20 ft. or less with a lot of fishobing to primary and secondary points in the spawning bays and creeks.

Instead of making multiple posts, I will post pics and reports as anglers give them to me. Regards.

10 ft. Of water - green pumpkin fluke
Fish continue their movement into the shallows . The first wave of spawners are up cruising and staging on primary and some secondary points. Heavy strings are coming on deep crankbaits, deep jerkbaits, and Texas rigged soft plastics. Get 5 Dinero worms doing well. Water temps continue to rise. Reports of 54 degree to 60 degree water is being found in all areas of the lake. Water level is still right at full pool . Clear to 20 ft. . The above fish is currently in the Sharelunker hospital tank . She had to be fizzed once and is doing fine. Will release tomorrow morning back into the lake at the BlackBrush ramp if all goes well . Fish are fat and healthy. I can personally tell you the crankbait bite is just plain stupid in the 20 ft. range next to spawning areas . Went out Monday morning and in 1 1/2 hours we had 12 fish with the best five right at 30 lbs. on 3/4 hot lips cranks in bluegill colors. DD22's in chartreuse / green back or blue back also working . Tx. Rig Grandebass craws also working with hop, hop retrieve. Regards.

2/21/11. 9.10 lbs.

8.15 lbs. 8.31 lbs. 2/23/11
Big fish for the week so far . Football jigs and deep cranks accounted for these two . Fish still moving in pre-spawn pattern . Fish are moving everyday closer closer to 1st wave moving up. Primary / some secondary point action. Best depth still 15-25 . Water temps vary between 54 and 61 degrees

Britt Gambrel. 10.70 lbs. 3/6/2011
Main lake 56 . upriver low 60's in some areas . Still a deep primary point pattern until temps rise a bit. This one sacked a football jig in 28 ft. of water on a primary point. Early bite was the game after this last cold front. Water clear to 10-15 ft. . Lots of fish moving. Next three weeks and the first wave will move. Regards.

Is it just me or do all the people who catch a bass at angler's lodge look eerily the same?  If I come to your lodge do I have to fish in blue jeans?

I'm a native, but I've never fished in blue jeans. Have you ever had a shootout with some bandidos? How fun would that be!? Catch some bass and have a gunfight in one afternoon! Record it all and put it on youtube.

If that happened here , I guess it would be fun. Shootings don't happen on Amistad . Your more likely to get shot in Austin than you are here. Maybe you should start a new fashion trend for fishing clothes. Might make ya rich !

We were at Amistad this last weekend for a 2 day club tourny. My partner caught a 8.05 on a watermelon red worm in about 6ft of water. Off a main point coming up to a flat cove. The weather may have played a factor in the slow bite for us. Very high winds all weekend made it really hard to fish anything on the main lake. There were plenty of 4-5 lbers weighted in.

BTW, we wear jeans all the time unless its warm enough for shorts. It's not about the fashion, it's about catching the fish. I'd rather look bad and take home some cash, then to look good and be broke. I used this same mentality for racing and it served me well.
