I feel im a pretty good fisherman and would like to find a partner who wouldnt mind draggin me along for a tourny... I dont know any info about them or even how much it cost$ to join? but im more than willing to throw down on gass and everything. (not to mention i only have a lil 7 footer bass boat). So if you all here anything or if you have a link with tourny info HOOK ME UP!!! Thx

Hey RippinLips,

Texas Classic Bass Club is a good place to get started fishing tournaments and learning the lakes in the area. We meet 7:00 PM at the VFW Post 8787 which is located on the north bound frontage road of IH-35 just north of Braker Lane. Our meetings are first Thursday of every month. Come on out and fish with us.

Next meeting Feb 7th and the tournament will be Feb 23. We'll decide which lake at the meeting and pick teams for the event.

Sure, come on by. There should be about 80 teams this year. Its a blast, loads of "interesting" people out there. Saturday afternoon is your best bet at getting some grub.

Thanks TH, I'd like to join a club. but I'm just a little hesitant about being a non-boater.

Being a non-boat owner is not a bad thing. I started in the Houston Bass club back in the early 80's , as a non-boat owner..Back then Champion, Hydra-Sport, Skeeter Starfire were some of the big bass boat names....

Not showing my age, a bass club is a great way to learn boating too...I would recommend it!

HERE IS AN ARTICLE FOR:

Clint - Well written article and lots of good info. I agree with 99% of it. The part that I think has been "dated" a little is the 20 bucks for gas....that worked well when gas was 1.15 a gallon, but 20 bucks gets you 6 gallons of gas at todays prices...

Just worth consideration, and you are right, it depends on the circumstance...imo.

that was a good post clint but i also found something i disagree with. You stated try retying lures and eat and drink while running. I personally dont want anyone retying while running, that sounds dangerous for him and me. Also eating or drinking falls into the category of keeping the boat clean. Have you ever tried to drink a soda at 65 it doesnt work well. Id prefer a non boater to do this while sitting still. My 2cents
