That actually brings up a good?...
How old(age) do you have to be (to legally) drive a registered boat???
Do you have to be licensed, or have a licensed driver with you under certain age???

I'm aware you would need licensed driver to put trailered boat in and out of water...

But I used to let me son drive my licensed(registered boat) when he was 12-15 yrs old...
And never thought about it might being illegal...
And was out of boat a few times, having him pull it off the trailer and wait for me to park...:-X

In Texas a person cannot operate a windblown vessel over 14 feet in length, a motorboat with more than 10 horsepower, or personal watercraft with more than 10 horsepower unless he/she:

was born after September 1, 1984 and has passed a boater education class or equivalency examination prescribed by the department.

is 18 years of age or older or born before September 1, 1984, or,

is under 16 years of age and is accompanied by a person 18 years of age or older, or

is at least 13 years of age and have passed a boater education course or equivalency examination prescribed by the department.

So a 13 year old could drive a 24' cigar boat on LT by thereselves if they took "a boater education course"... ???

Now that's scary...

Ok son, for passing the "boater education course"....
I'll let you take it out by yourself, this one time...
