Upgrading motor, need to sell my 2001 225 hp Mercury Optimax. Motor had 330 hours before rebuild. All 12 injectors have been cleaned, serviced and flow checked. Motor has new spin on fuel filter/water seperator and new impeller. This has the 20" midsection and all the 2003 upgrades. Asking 5700 .

What are the 2003 upgrades?

I see it had 330 hrs before rebuild. How many hrs on rebuild? And why was it rebuilt?

Prop or no prop?

Theres no prop for it. It has 0 hours since the rebuild. It ingested a reed valve in cylinder 1 so I had all cylinders honed while at the machine shop. Figured I might as well since I had to have all the pistons removed, that way they all stay at same compression. The upgrades include 130 degree thermostats, computer flashed(not sure what that meant) and the fuel rails were upgraded.

Id like to see that motor on my boat. I had a compression check and found 1 cylinder is about 15lbs les than the rest. Now I'm in a dilema, do I drop the cash to fix mine, sell the boat, or get something new to push it.

That is a deal on the motor though.

Currently running a 96 Merc 200 EFI. Just got it back from the mobile Mercman, he fixed up the lower gear case but still have the pesky cylinder problem. Wont do anything with that until after thankgiving.
