    Questions

    Anyone more experianced anglers know if theres some truth to the use braided line oppose mono being damaging to rods in the sense of wear and tear?

    Anyone know where the Highland Lakes Tackle guy ran of to. I heard Killeen some where and if so is he in business? I us to get my cultiva by owner hooks from him but now I have to order them out of Cali.
    and their a little more expensive.

    Don't think there's any risk with modern ceramic guides, but not sure on the older metallic ones. *Been fishing braid several years with no ill consequence to my rods and many more fish caught due to increased sensitivity to subtle bites and less line stretch on the set. *There is a learning curve on the baitcaster with respect to preventing backlash, but once over this, you will never go back... 8-)

    Yeah, the braid can do damage, but I think most rods deal with it fine. I've got a rod that I've had for the past 8 or 9 years now that I've used to throw surface frogs with (it's spooled with braid). After a while, I started noticing that the braid was wearing a cut down into the ceramic on the very tip of the rod. After a while the cermic part just popped out leaving just a metal ring at the end of my rod. I've been throwing it that way with just the metal for the past 6 or 7 years and it has worked just fine. Hasn't ever caused any damage to the line or anything. Whatever I guess....
