Blue Gill / Sunfish at Lake Austin?

My wife and I loved to get a big mess of fish for the freezer, but after the politicians ruined the lake with the carp, the Blue Gill disappeared.
Yesterday I stopped buy and fished for a couple hours and caught 4 nice sunfish and that is it. Normally I would have boated 40-50.
Anyone else fishing this water for panfish with better results? The carp should be a nice size for spearing...…

    Thanks folks.....

If stupidity got us into this....Why can't it get us out?

I think the lake changes quite a bit from the Mansfield Dam end and Tom Miller. Shallow and cold by Mansfield and deeper and warmer near Tom Miller. TPWD regulations totally support spearfishing these invasive grass carp, btw.
