1997 yhe wife was one of the top sales persons in Texas for her company. All of the salesmen won a business related free tip to Fort Lauder dale and South Beach. This was the 1 week after Versace was killed. After we had visited his house, there were a few bars close by and you could hear a guy was playing instrumental guitar in the distance. In fact it was fantastic. Bob Folse and here is just one. Enjoy.
Thanks RO! I like the riff in Lawyers, Guns and Money. Like Zevon said, "Enjoy every sandwich."
A punk band from the 90's caught my ear with their new single, released last month. The Mr. T Experience:
Scoot Inn Saturday night.
Vol. 2 CD release.
Caught Jon Anderson, Rick Wakeman and Trevor Rabin last night at ACL. Rick is awesome and still wearing his cape. Chris Squire was missed but the bassist was effing great. Surprising that Jon still has some range at 72 years old.
A different version of "A whiter side of pale".
One to share with the Better Half..... Trust me, they will be butter in your hands.
Picked up tixs for the Austin and Red Rock dates.
too high dollar for me! but i keep rotating sturgill's 3 cds over and over and over...
steffen be smoking!
check out alan holdsworth 'atavachron' my fave instrumental!
wish sturgill left the horns at home, tho...i like that guitar player he's got a bunch, and would rather hear his fills than some horns...but if you listen to sturgill, you know you gonna get the horn!
I am very sad to hear of Chris Cornell's death last night.
Shocking. Saw soundgarden, and cornell after audioslave...very sad...
Loved the Jimmy LaFave cut with Jeff Plankenhorn on resonator guitar!
Hey, in 1962 I was a sophomore in high school. The Beatles hadn't yet hit, surf music was coming on, and doo-wop was still popular. Like the Belmonts... without Dion. Like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfQ2s447AaM
Ah... rock and roll. :cool::cool::cool:
RIP Glen Campbell
4/22/36 - 8/8/17
His cover of the Foo Fighter's Times Like These:
A Longhorn win in the afternoon and a party afterwards.
Sturgill put on a damn good show. He's all play and no talk.
The Mule put on a decent show, though not the best I've seen of them. They did a reggae version of "The Joker" which was interesting.
Blackberry Smoke at Emo's last night. They were good.
Chris Shiflett, guitarist from Foo Fighters opened.
Bob Mould of Hüsker Dü and Sugar played Mohawk last night. Pretty good and it was packed. Video is from a concert somewhere else.
Shinyribs put on a great show at ACL Moody Friday night.
At the airport waiting on a flight. Thrashing to Rage Against The Machine - Bulls On Parade
Saw Claypool Lennon Delirium last night at Emo's. Place was packed. Pretty damn good. They played a few covers as King Crimson's Court of the Crimson King, Beatles Tomorrow Never Knows and Pink Floyd's Astronomy Domine.
That cover of Astronomy Domine must have been sublime. I really enjoy listening to Les Claypool's Frog Brigade live cover of Pigs Three Different Ones.
I said that Mark Knopfler had better be awesome since I bought tickets before I renewed Longhorn football season tickets. I didn't look at the schedule and there it was....LSU. So, I sold my football tickets and went to the concert.
Effing awesome. Picture sucks.
Nice! Knopfler definitely earned his place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Sorry to hear about your 'horns.
Saw Phil Collins live some months ago. Truly an experience I'll remember the rest of my life though he is an old man and forgot some of the lines :D
