    Long time lurker finally joined

Trying to get better at bass fishing, so finally joined. I am great at buying lures and carrying gear, but catching fish is still a bit of a mystery to me. I mostly bank fish on LadyBird, some creeks and ponds. I've been skunked my last 3 outings on Ladybird, but caught 4 on Travis on a 4 hr guided trip. Mostly use soft plastics, but I am trying lipless cranks, jerk baits and jigs.

My first (thanks for reading this far) question is how long do other bank fisherman stay at one spot before moving on?

Thanks, for letting me join I am looking forward to contributing.

    JT

If its a spot where I've caught 'em before, I will stay awhile. I can throw texas-rig and lipless over and over without burning out.

It kind of depends on the bank. For example, at Pflugerville with its wide open shoreline, I run and gun. That means three casts at each spot: left, right, straight-ahead then move down the bank.

Welcome to the party! I (bank) fish Lady Bird Lake all of the time and agree that all of Jeremy’s points definitely apply to this body of water as well.

I’ve got a few hot spots and LBL-specific tips that I’d be happy to share if you want to shoot me a DM.

Welcome! If you get tired of the banks, texas rowing center(opens at 6am everyday) rents out kayaks for like $25-$30 a day and they are right next to Austin High and which has tons of great spots you can hit with a yak. Id recommend getting one for the day and start on the opposite bank from TRC and work your way up toward mopac bridge or down towards barton creek. Right now, craw patterns and creature baits have done well for me and we should see more action on flukes and baitfish patterns as water temps rise. DM me if you have any questions.

    Good luck out there!
