    LSC: The Shooting

Our friend Ryan has had a tough year so far. He was with us (and lost everything) in the Pecos flood back in June; then a very good friend and mentor of his died unexpectedly within a few weeks of the flood; and a few months later a shooting occurred outside his apartment, and things didn't exactly go as planned.

He has shared his account of the shooting in the hope that we all learn from the mistakes he made that night, and I wanted to share them with you. To read about it, click here: LSC: The Shooting

Wow. I like to think that I am prepared and have a plan but you never know how you'd react in a scenario like that.

Thanks for the story, great read as always. This could have been any of us, things rarely go to plan. That's not to say you shouldn't have one or two just in case.

This is why you shoot IDPA. Every week you compete against other shooters on 7 different scenarios. You may think you are capable until your stress level gets high.

My advice for anyone who wants to hear it, is to keep a real trauma kit somewhere near your weapon. I have one that has everything to treat for gunshots, and I think wholeheartedly that every gun owner should have one in their home. Towels, or small first aid kits will only get you so far.
