    Lake Austin "Fat Farm"

I am new to this site and was reading some post talking about the Fat Farm where is it located at? I have fished lake Austin 6 or 7 times but I would really like to start fishing it more since ski season is over.

Maybe not as big as anticipated with the "Big Chill" coming in :P.

Nowadays, Fat Farm during the late summer evenings has been a good treat .

In the past, well.. that's how the name came about .

    Re: *Lake Austin "Fat Farm"

Any more sightings near the fat farm of the "in the buff" afterdark wakeboard chics? *That was the funniest thing I'd ever heard when that trend surfaced this spring/summer. *I hope it is long lived! *For safety reasons they should wear red flashing lights that are strategically located for maximum visibility

Hey 518, no flashing red lights neccessary...the girls I see out surfing in their birthday suits after dark usually have a spotlight or tower lights on them and a camera rolling. I love Lake Austin! Why do you think I own a wakeboard boat?

In regards to the Fat Farm, it has been my experience that since the grass is so thick around there it got a lot harder to fish this year. Wait till the drawdown and that area along with Quinlan should be money again.

Sweet! *I hear you AirFob on the benefits of also having a fun boat. *In my case, that's what friends are for *I'm still waiting on LA to produce as many beauties and "shows" as Travis though. *Here is a taste of some of the action from the cove on Travis this past year (not work friendly )

I suppose I should also add some fishing info to keep this thread from being moved to misc. I live in Steiner and put in at Quinlan (Fat Farm). The hydrilla was really thick this year. They've done a lot of trimming around the docks using a big combine looking machine. Unfortunately they leave all of the dead weed to rot in the lake and plug up my speedo port on the motor when I'm running WOT across the lake. The fish seem to stay away from the rotting weeds. I haven't had much luck fishing the weeds around Quinlan this fall. I hear a lot of the Big Bass Roundup guys were fishing up that way though. Not sure where the big fish were actually caught.

518, I think we will get along just fine, nice link! Funny, I recognize some of the people in those pics and even saw my brother in one of them. Gotta love Devil's Cove man, where else can you fish for tuna in the summer and bass in the fall?

Looking forward to meeting you at the next HHJ.
