I put in at first light and fumbled around not getting any bites or any clues for two hours. The only clue I had was from a yakker who stayed in one spot across the lake from me for like an hour like he was all over them. I asked him later and he said he caught many from that spot.

I wound up anchoring upwind of the wood on the main lake point. I rigged up a split-shot finesse worm. I was using a 7' M/XF casting rod, 10# Invizx tied to a VMC 2/0 resin-welded fine-wire round-bend worm hook with split-shot crimped 10" up-line.

I caught several fish here, the best being a 4-14 brute. I also got one on a Rat-L-Trap. Off at 11AM.

Thanks Hopedale. To offset your dissatisfaction of my earlier report, I included the magic bait in the above pic. Its forward on the starboard gunwale.

Today I slept in and put in at sunrise. I got twice as many, but no big'uns. I caught a good'un around three pounds but I nicked his gill so per my SOP with a hurt fish, I released him immediately without a pic.

I wasn't getting bit on the straight-tail, so I beefed up my split-shot rig. I switched to 6'10" MH/XF casting 12# Invizx, 3/0 Gama EWG and upsizing the split-shot from #7 to #5. I was texposing watermelon/black flake GYB 5" Yamasenkos until I ran out, which really annoyed me for a little while.

I got some of the new MaxScent stuff a couple months ago when Walmart was resetting. I texposed Berkely green pumpkin 5" Generals and they caught a lot of fish, but I'm not giving up on true blue (green) Senkos any time soon. Off at noon.

    Thanks.

I'd say you own that lake.

Was all set to go this morning, but had to bring the kiddo's car in for repair. Now I'm pouting and refusing to do any work around the house. Its about all I do of late.

Happy Memorial Day! Sorry to hear about the car trouble. You can only put that stuff off so long.

It was a holiday weekend of increasing winds and diminishing catches. The angler that owned the lake this weekend is a yakker from Hutto. He had ~twenty on Saturday, ~ten yesterday and he had at least a dozen when I left the lake at 10:30 AM.

I caught four and missed at least that many. My fourth came on a tip from the Hutto yakker. God Bless America.
