    Pedernales River update

Took the kayak out on the Pedernales River around the Highway 71 bridge on Sunday afternoon. Worked the mouths of creeks feeding into the main body in about 7-15' of water. I was fishing primarily with a Texas rigged 5" Zoom Baby Brush Hog Creature Bait - Watermelon Candy Red. Caught 23 bass, 2 crappie and 1 gar. Most of the bass were around 1 1/2 lbs. but 3 were over 3 lbs. and 1 was almost 5 lbs. Late in the day I ran out of plastics and switched to spinners (H&H tandem blades) in a Chartreuse/White combo. This accounted for two of the larger bass and the crappie. Very nice afternoon on the water.

There are about 20 creek/gullies that drain into the river as you head to the main body of Lake Travis....after all of the rain they seem to be hanging out at the mouth of these.

I live close to that area and kayak as well. Is there public access near the bridge? Thanks!

No public access that I know of but there is a path down from the bridge to the water. It is pretty steep so I am not sure if it is feasible or not.
