    Lake Austin. 11/3

Had a club tournament on Austin and decided last minute to fish it. Only been on the lake one time before that ended in an almost life ending event. Fished down lake in the mud from 6 to 8. Nothing. Moved up to half mile below fat farm 8:30 to 11. Nothing. Moved farther up found some grass. First keeper at 11:30. Just a 14 incher. Then from 12:30 to 1:30 fish turned on. Bam bam bam. Had 4 in the livewell all 2 to 3.5 pounds. Then my wife called to check on me. As I was talking had a bite, set the hook, wham good fish. Droped the phone. Wife would have to wait. I could hear her on the line asking what's wrong. Fought the fish in. Good 6.5 pound chunk. Put her in the livewell. Pick up the phone ol lady was freaking out. She thought I fell out the boat with all the splashing the fish was doing at the boat. Assured her I was ok. Told her my weigh in was at 3 and talk to her then. For some reason I kept thinking all day to head back at 2:30 to be at weigh in by 3. 2:30 I'm buckling my life jacket and phone rings. It the tournament director, wanting to know if I'm having boat problems. Told him no. Then he says well you missed weigh in. I said no its only 2:30 and you must have forgot to set your clock back. Then he tells my what a big dummy I was cause weigh in was at 2. Just my luck. He waits for me at ramp. Already DQed we weigh my fish. I had 14.38 and would have won. I'm a big dummy.

If you forgot to set your clock back, wouldn't you have been early? i.e, 2:30 on your clock would have actually been 1:30? Or is it Monday and I can't think straight?

Either way outcome sucks, but at least you were on the water and catching fish!

I don't feel that bad about it. I know I won. I didn't pre fish and only the second time fishing austin. All in all did good. Gonna double check our web site for weigh in time from now on.

Dang! At least you didn't have 22 basses on the back deck!
    Congrats anyway.

Tough luck, but congrats on a good day of fishing. It sure beats getting skunked and being on time for the weigh in.

Glad to see you made it back out to LA. I meet you over at LBJ, I was wearing the B.A.B.A. shirt and cap. Sorry to hear about the missed weigh in time....that was a decent sack.
I may not catch the big ones, but I drive one bad Shark!
