Fayette Lake
Fayette is one of the best bass fishing lakes in Central Texas. In fact, some surveys rate Fayette at the top for both quantity and quality. The 2400 acre lake is a power plant cooling reservoir with many different kinds of structure and vegetation. Coves hold standing timber, while submerged tank dams, roadbeds, and aquatic vegetation provide structure. Because it is a power plant lake, the temperatures are warm during cooler months, like spring and winter. This keeps bass active when they slow on other lakes.
While fishing is best in February and June, Fayette is considered solid year round. You are not limited in your style on this lake. You can catch bass on everything from crankbaits to soft plastics. You might throw a chrome/blue or red crankbait to cover large areas during the day. In the mornings and on cloudy days, try out a topwater lure. If you prefer live bait, minnows and waterdogs can be very successful. No matter what you throw, you will likely catch quality bass on Fayette.
