If you can wait a month, Lowrance has a new Elite-5 HDI coming. Same as the 7, except obviously the screen size.
The full GPS/2D/DI package is going to run $500 MSRP. Lose 2", save $200.
I'm pretty sure I saw 9/16 as the expected date at a couple retailers.

Bought my first hub at cabelas. No they do not install. Prices are high unless stuff is on sale. Side imaging on a 5" unit is useless. Too small to make out stuff and split screen is completely useless. Down imaging does work at that size but not using split screen. I'd just go get an 898 for around a grand and be done with it.

Ended up going with this:
Lowrance® Elite-5 DSI Sonar with GPS : Cabela's
Almost almost got the 7 series but then I remembered that I'm just not that trophy. This one is half the cost which will allow me to upgrade certain things and do some general maintenance that is popping up
Might get it one day and move this baby to the bow.I can't complain but sometimes I still do

ok cancelled the order, going Elite 7
more than a few people have advised that having just DI is not enough, the traditional 2d sonar is necessaryI can't complain but sometimes I still do

Yep that's the plan, post Christmas Ive got some more trophy plans in mind. Shouldve gotten that Spray keel guard done while I was down there. Beaching the boat is pretty much the only option at Lavon, no docks anywhere. Also no one offers the spray guard up here either, going to have to take her down to atx for that

That's the one I plan on getting also, in time for the paddle fairy power plant lake fishing tournaments. If you're headed this way lemme know. I'll get the worms, bring a cutting board and kevlar gloves so we can gar fish...
