Monday after work LT crappie
Don't normally even consider fishing on work/schoolnights, but having a friend in town from Conn. helped instigate this quick escape. Stapp and Mike got out to Travis ahead of me and seined up some good black-tail shiners after a difficult shoreline launch near Mud Cove/Pace Bend. They picked me up around 7:30pm and we headed to a protected cove just before dusk. Put out the Supernovas, opened a few brews, and dropped minnows down 15-25 feet in 27 fow. Took a while for the bait and fish to gather round, but come they did. Mostly littles at first, but then some decent crappie showed up and bit fairly well. Had to catch two unders before a keeper, but action was good, tunes were cranking, and some irish whiskey was on board. Off the water about midnight. Had a helluva good time for a Monday night. Kinda dragging butt at work today, but was well worth it. Ended up with 14 crappie, one white, and a bluegill, all on minnows, didn't even try jigs this time. Stapp had already cleaned a couple before we snapped the last pic, so no, I'm not that bad at counting. Glad to get out there finally, as I had missed my normal crappie fishing in Jan/Feb. LT looks a lot better half full than a third full, but sure would like to see 681 again...

Hail Yeahh! Stapp had Bob Walden give the Rude a tune up recently and she's purring like a kitten. I'm a sentimental old bastard, and I like catching fish out of older boats with some character, and some history of delivering good catches. We cruised back to Pace Bend on a glassy calm LT midnight. What a perfect night. Long live the Rude Hydrasport!

Much like me 2 days before, his driver side rear wheel found a hole in apparently flat shoreline, and sunk him into the axle. Even with 4wd, had to dig out to get unstuck, so scout carefully when launching at Pace Bend. Can't wait for the water to come up enough to use the ramps again, but need another 10-12 feet of water for that.

Way to go! Sounds like a blast. I was hoping to hit LT in the next week or two. You think my 2WD will work if I'm careful? I've got a tow strap and I'll bring shovels just in case.
