Striper Fever
my buddy got a 6 1/2 pound striper right before my eyes on a topwater popper... fish leaped out of the water. it was magical..im hooked, did my homework. I have caught a slew of Black Bass. Now its on like donkey kong with striper aaaand a few more black bass lol. good to back on the forums for a minute. Dont mess around with little topwaters. Those stripers will easily straighten out your hook.

Nice fish! Looks like a constant level lake. Inks? Glad you're converted to the striper side. They do pull harder!

Glad to hear there are still some striper coming out of there. Haven't fished there in a long time. You may recall that some 40+ lb striper have been caught there.

indeed i do and i saw alot of action last time i was there. the water was goin crazy with topwater action till the sun got up there. i could care less about the strain of fish i catch but i got some big pencil poppers just for some stripes. Been following the hand me down advice from a veteran fisherman.

Yep...that's what got me. I've had the fever now sinc 1995. Two boats and dozens of chug bugs later, I'm still chasing that heart stopping top water bite.
But, there are several other methods that still rule as well....slabbing, dragging a swim bait under the lights in about 6-12 feet of water, free line trolling a rattlin' rogue,...but yeah....top water!
My favorite all time top water event: Throw into the shallows in about 4ft of water, lure is a red-white big bug, after the third or fourth chug, a striper tail hits the lure out of the water and into the air about 3ft. When the lure hits the water, about a bucket of water just drops out from beneath the lure and the fight is on...man what a rush!
Still have it and still chasin the striper.
