    Car wax vs Boat wax

Car wax and boat wax are not the same from what I have learned over the years...

Gel coats are significantly harder and more porous that car paint. As a result in order to get the best results and longevity out of you wax application you would need a marine wax. The reason??? Marine waxes are designed with fine abrasives that clean the gel coat surface and pores from old waxes and other contaminents before leaving a fresh layer of protection. I am in favor of using a Marine wax that has a healthy dose of polymers in it making it more durable to the elements that boats are subjected to than carnauba wax which is very prevalent in car waxes. A good marine wax will give your boat a great shine and more importantly last longer. This can help repel water making water spotting less of a pain in stern

As I am new to the forum I will invite you all to check out my cleaner wax and polymer sealant on my website at Welcome to Hula Boat Care - Home

I love to continue learning so all opinions are welcome.

His cleaner wax has a small amount of grit to it that really cuts the oxidation and leaves a nice shine! My boat was looking like a more creamy white and now after some of his wax it's looking a lot more crisp and clean

Can this product be used on RV's (fiberglass shell)? Not sure it has clearcoat or not.

If your RV is just fiberglass then yes you can my cleaner wax. The abrasives in this product may be too aggressive for automotive paints which could lead to scratches.

I believe the box of the RV (Class C) is 100% fiberglass. If I understand you correctly, I should not use it on the cab (car body parts). Sounds like I need to skip over the "cosmetic striping) on the RV also. It appears to be some sort of stick on vinyl (similar to a wrap?). I live in CP. Is it strictly an on-line store or can I come by to pick some up?

Hang Ten Cleaner Wax if used by hand can be used on automotive paint. I have customers having good success polishing the fiberglass, the vinyl decals and wraps with no issues. They are using a DA or orbital polisher on the fiberglass and vinyl. This product is available at 7 marinas on Lake Travis as well as online. I am located in Lakeway and can arrange to meet up and supply you with a bottle.

Thanks for your interest and questions.

On another note if your RV is in new or like new condition without oxidation or defects you want to remove you can also use Big Kahuna Polymer Sealant as a protectant. This product has a very mild abrasive which means it is safe for gel cot and painted surfaces.

Just an alternative idea without knowing the condition of your RV.
