New Orvis Store

I had a bright yellow sticker on the front of my Sunday paper today, that was actually a coupon for $25 off a $50 or more purchase at the new Orvis store, opening 11/11/11, at 10000 Research Blvd., Suite B04B.

Yeah, I saw that too and stuck that coupon in my wallet. Great, yet another money sink! They do have cool shirts, etc. though. I can usually find better deals on flyfishing gear online though.

I love their braided leaders (Braided Fly Line Leader / Floating Braided Leaders -- Orvis), glad to see them coming to Austin. I'm with RO, another place to take my money. Looks like I'll be doing more fly fishing this fall.

Interesting... the old Orvis store on 183 closed about 8-10 years back, right? Wonder who has los cojones big enough to open another? Especially with Sportsman's Finest handling the high-end fly-gear and Lexus-priced clothing.

I saved the coupon, of course, even though I have fly-fishing gear, good stuff at that, that I haven't used in years and years.

yeah they closed in 03, apparently the guy that was managing the Dallas store is running the new store in Austin.

I stopped by today as well. I bought $51 worth of fly-tying supplies so I could get $25 off. Whole lotta clothing, a little bit of fishing gear.

They have a fishing corner and a clothing store. At least they have the braided leaders I like so that was a plus. Also, they have the Boogle Popper in "yella fella" size 10, which is my favorite fly for sunfish. But yeah, it's not what I was expecting.
