always scan at academy
returned wacky worm rod today...too bulky....left me w/ $59 to play with, so i saw some great looking lipless cranks h2o, and pkgs of worms...thought i'd double-check the prices so i dont have any surprises at register...instead of $3.99, they scanned at $1.88! got 6 of those...w/ the money saved i looked at rain gear and settled on an umbrella in camo for $7! still have $25 left on gift card...waiting for sunday's ad....

Dumb question, but are you planning on holding the umbrella while fishing? Seems like an interesting alternative to rain gear.

if it's raining i'm gonna be sitting underneath it, waiting for the rain to stop. i always keep an eye on the weather, so i have a pretty good idea if it's gonna be a steady, or intermitant, rain. i just don't go out if it looks steady. just stay inside and play chess online.

You might have to run back to Academy today JPB. They have Chronarch for 169.99 on the weekly add

Don't be too quick to give up on baitcasters !

I use to use only spinning reels, but I tried a baitcaster not to long ago and love it. I have not used a spinning reel in months. In fact I am looking to buy 1 or 2 more baitcasters.

Check prices at any store. Shelf price verses what they ring up. It's happening EVERYWHERE. I just bought a compression test kit today to check my Mercury and it rang $4 higher than the big tag on the shelf. I truly believe, given that so few actually ring the price correctly that it is simply a theme for the bust economy;-) Yes... check your prices. Academy or anywhere else. You may be surprised. Walgreen's seems to be the worst.
