Headin' to Buchanan for my first time with a buddy on his small boat this coming Monday. He has a fancy fish finder.

I've been readin' all the recent posts on here about Lady Buch and it seems that we are gonna need to....
1. locate shad and catch them to use as bait
2. find humps and drop shad on humps
3. reel in monster Stripers

Is that it? Sounds easy enough!

I'd love any other suggestions. Pray for wind too, right? :p

I have two 7' rods with braid on them. One is rigged with 20lb Spiderwire Ultracast Invisi-braid. The other is rigged with 14lb Berkley FireLine. I want to use one of the rods for Carolina rigging and the other for topwater and shallow-diving crankbaits, most likely with a fluoro leader on each.

Which braid is better suited to the Carolina rig?

Hi!! I'm a newbie here and moved to the Austin Area a few months ago from Houston. I've always fished Lakes and have no experience fishing rivers, streams and creeks and would like any helpful hints on being successful fishing these places. Right now I'm looking at fishing the Pedernales from Johnson City down to Lake Travis and also creeks along the way like Barton Creek, etc.
My question is......do fish stay in the same areas of this these creeks and rivers or do they go downstream?

One place I would like to check out is Reimer's off Hamilton Pool Rd.

Thanks,
Sly

Just got back to "normal" from our Belize Trip. We arrived late Thursday night and set up shop at the Mayan Princess in San Pedro. Got a great deal on the Hotel, but 3 nights get one free. It is right in the middle of town and has access to everything you need. Here is the view from our Hotel.
Friday Morning our Guide Mario took us to some Mudding Bonefish and a trip to the mangroves to look for bigger fish. I really think he just wanted to see how my cast was with the flyrod in the 20mph winds that we experienced all weekend. Here are a couple fish from Friday.
Some reason all my bonefish pictures are read/write protected. some damn MS issue. Anyway I owned those elusive sluts all day long. Several took me to my backing but the reel (pun intended) fun happened Sat. We went to the edge of a channel and hooked into 6 nice Tarpon. I got 3 and my wife got three. Tarpon on the fly is crazy. They say you measure Tarpon by jumps and not lands in the boat. We were 6 for 6 so either we are good or luck. I don't care which, those fish jump like crazy.
Spent sunday Snorkeling, AWESOME. Wife held a 6 ft nurse shark, unfortunately this is limiting me to 5 pictures. I'll post more later. Monday I sight fished and waded for more Bonefish and landed 4 nice 4lb'ers before our flight back home. Ended up with a poor mans Grand slam (bonefish, snapper and Baracuda) and then 2/3 of a real grand Slam. (tarpon/bonefish). Way to windy to fish for Permit. Luck of the draw I guess. <a href="http://www.austinbassfishing.com/forum/attachments/coastal-reports/4544-belize-aftermath-belize-2012-067.jpg" title="Name:

Just learned he passed. His song Bustin Loose was where I came up with our team name. Outside the fact that it is a fish catching song is me and Riley's song. When I first started going through the divorce I rented the newer version of the movie the honeymooners . It opened with this song and Riley loved it and danced over and over to it. When i formed our Striper team I named us Bustin Loose because Riley loved the song . Thanks Chuck
