Re: Coast Fishing
Water is off colored right now, fishing has been slow. Bro and buddies say it is picking up. My advice since it's a "family" trip is to go ahead and take a deep sea charter. The kids will love their dad for that one. The wind has been stable so offshore wont be choppy. Or you could just spend your time catching trash fish off a pier.

Re: Coast Fishing
I have to agree with smokin. We were real lucky in finding these fish in a bay. The bays are full of fresh water right now, it has no salt taste. The bait houses can't keep shrimp alive because there is no salinity in the water. They are catching some trout in the surf between the second and third sand bars and you could get a guide for doing that also. Before the rain started the trout were really coming in good to the lighted piers. Now you can hardly buy a trout under the lights. Yes, we did catch the fish on a live bait (shrimp, croakers, and crab).

Re: Coast Fishing
for a start google offshore fishing, dont forget to add which city you will be staying in. My suggestion is look up party boats going out of Port A. For a bay guide you want to take someone who fishes in south laguna madre or baffin bay, the water has nore salinity down that way. As dozer said, the beach is a great option, but if you're a 1st timer fishing from the beach you may wanna do a bit aresearch as to how to fish the beach.
