    Ring Free Shock Treatment ?

Anyone ever done this? My engine is still not running right at all. It keeps dying on me now. I put in new plugs and the fuel filter looks fine. Now I'm going to try the de-carbon thing with ring free. I read that it will foul the plugs so I hope I don't get stuck out in the middle of the lake.

i thought about that but i'm not sure this engine has one. it seems th ox66 models have the o2 sensor from what i've read.
the shock treatment didn't do much. still surging and dies when i trim the engine up at the ramp.

I have an ox66, which is the only reason I knew to check the o2 for carbon. (didn't have very much the last time I checked, so I skipped the treatment)

dies when you trim it up... hmmm. that would make me think something that floats is becoming unleveled when tilted... like the ring in a fuel filter when there's water in the gas lines.

(disclaimer: I am no mechanic, and have only ever worked on my engine)

i noticed last time out that my oil reserve is pretty low. do you think that would do it? the smaller reserve tank on the engine is below the low fill line but still about 1/3 full. i was going to try to run it pretty low to get rid of the quicksilver in it and start using yamalube. the low oil light has not come on so i thought it was ok.
i bought a new fuel filter but couldn't get the filter cup to un-screw. I didn't want to crack it and compound my problem. is there a secret to getting it off? there is a piece of plastic on the bottom of it that fits a 3/8" socket but it just bends or strips when i apply pressure.

If your reserve is pretty low, the float alarm would have gone off. I've never run the motor without my reserve tank being at least 1/3 full. I dont know that i'd rely on an oil light / alarm, as there's always a chance the light is out or alarm is dead.

i dont remember the trick to getting the filter to unseat. Might be worth googlin' some other forums.

Have you pulled your VST? Anytime i've ever had idle / engine stumbling issues, it had to do with fuel not getting where it's supposed to be... and the VST in yammy engines is notorious for being easily clogged / gunked up. There's a float in the VST that could be getting stuck,. There's also a VST filter (mine is 70 bucks!) that needs replacing every other year.

Vapor Separator Tank. It's part of the fuel pump. On my engine, it looks like this... (part #1 is the most recognizable, if you're staring at the port side)

warning though... if you pull the lid to the VST, you NEED to buy a new gasket (part#6 in that chart) , you'll never be able to fit the old one back in.
