Nice report Doug.
Seeing old folks ripping heaters gives me some hope that I will make it past 50.

If you only knew what an accomplishment it has been to get my mother on a boat. I have tried and tried to get her on the water for years. That’s why I refuse to take her on a day when there may be some white caps. So far we have never adventured to far away from the boat ramp. I asked them the other day if they would like a tour of the lake, but they said no. Maybe someday I’ll get them over to Johnny’s cove, or the east side of the lake. But until then, I’ll just settle for taking them fishing and hooking them up with some decent fish. My parents tried to get me to fish a little more than what I did on this trip, but I told them not to worry about me, I’m out here to make sure they catch fish and have fun. I told them, I can always come back out here with a friend and run and gun the lake and catch fish till my heart is content, so don’t worry about me fishing while I’m with y’all. Not only that, but I caught more than my share on this trip. I’m guessing somewhere around fifteen. One was a very heavy four, and several nice size three’s, so I got my rod bent pretty good.
Now I need to get my wife and daughter on the water and let them fish with live bait and have a blast.
But first things first, heck I need a fifty plus bass day fix myself…… I truly believe that if I had been on the water by myself or with some one else on Monday, I would have had an 80 to 90 plus day. I’m telling ya, the chew was on my friend. Over half of my catch was bass hitting my plastic on the fall. I can see where a crank bait bite would have been on fire. Or a wacky rigged plastic, preferably a sinko.Last edited by fishytx; 04-25-2012 at 09:02 AM.

My Mom's pup brought us a lot of laughter. He was on ever fish we caught. Poor little puppy worked himself to death running from one end of the boat to the other. He slept all the way home and most of the next day. He mostly licks the fish, but every now and then he would nibble on the back or pectoral fin. He was just being a bored dog.
