    Bass Fishing at Camp Mabry?

I use to fish a pond at Camp Mabry, back in the late 80's. You would go to the visitors building to obtain a site pass. Then go fishing during the daytime only. There was security guard always watching to make sure you caught and released. Caught bass to 8lbs in that shallow pond. Back then, I used a jon boat to work the shorelines...

HERE IS THE ONLY INFORMATION I COULD FIND . Dated 2004.

    Camp Mabry

    Recreation and Nature

There is a large recreational running track that is available for use by the public. There are also two ponds on the grounds that can be fished and a picnic area. *You will need a valid fishing/hunting license to fish along with getting a permit from Camp Mabry for a small fee. *Go to Building 1 to purchase the permit. Contact Camp Mabry to check access information. *There are also deer that live in the large wooded areas of the facility.

    Access:

Access to Camp Mabry is restricted with appropriate security set for current times. *The entire facility is fenced with multiple gates, some of which are closed. *Call or check their website for access information. Access normally requires picture identification. *

Someone I know tried to fish that pond out of his kayak and got kicked off. They said no boats allowed.
    Solid.

You can still fish there off the banks. You need to get a visitor pass and parking permit from one of the buildings on base. I went late fall for a few hours and got nothing. Talked to a guy who was leaving as I got there and he had landed a few bass. Catch and release only. Didn't see any security guards or anything. Had the place to myself.
