Old Settlers Park in Round Rock

I decided to go fishing this past Thursday and brought a friend.

we caught a few perch and threw one out on a bobber.

we were certainly not getting the relaxing experience we expected considering an elementary school had a bunch of kids there screaming and what-not, but it's good they're getting them outside.

not 2 minutes after throwing out the perch my bobber disappeared.

i set the hook and started reeling in what i though was the biggest turtle i've ever caught. It finally hit the surface and started thrashing. turned out to be a about a 3.5lb Bass.

I'm not sure if he just hadn't had his coffee yet or what, but it was the least fight I've EVER had catching a bass but it was the biggest size...strange.

    anyway, they're there.

I'll post a pic when i have enough posts. I've been following the forums but didn't have anything to share until now.

I wasn't fishing for turtles, i just though that's what it was because it wasn't fighting at ALL.

Did you fish on the bottom? and where at. there's so much hydrilla I couldn't do anything on the bottom, but that's where i prefer to fish.

thought about buying a giant treble hook and clearing a few lanes to fish in. I got a rod with 65lb test spiderwire i could use just for that!!

i would use a bobber too. i would always fish to the left of the little peir, kind of close to the tree and the park bench. the channel used to run right there and swing back out toward the peir. not sure if it changed after the flood last month

the worst part of that place in the damned mosquitoes! I've though of walking around to the damn side of it, i would think it would be deeper and there may be less hydrilla.... I'm not gonna give up on it cause it's SO CLOSE TO HOME!
