Emma Long Park Fishing Report
Mar 10th, 2010, 4:50pm

Went to Emma Long about 3pm just after the rain went through.  Water was clearer than I expected.  There is a place up from the dam where rainwater trickles in.  Fished at this spot for about 45min and caught four small bass (1-3 lbs) on a green pumpkin six-inch worm.  Not sure how deep the water is but all of these fish were 10 –15 feet off the bank, which is about halfway across at this point. Good time on a sunny afternoon.

Are you sure you were at Emma Long park?  Your description sounds more like redbud island below Tom Miller dam?  Emma long is on lake Austin no where near a dam.  Walter E. Long is the newer name for what we all used to call Decker Lake, and there is a dam there, but you can't cast half way across... Huh

Glad you caught some anyways.  Sounds like fun.

My bad, you are correct it was Mary Moore Searight park and the water is Slaughter Creek, I am relativity new to the area and wandering around fishing.  Read about this fishing site on this forum sometime last year.

Here are the GPS cords. Use google maps and plug that in. Switch to satalite view. If you park on Fairchild Dr and walk through the entrance, take a right and follow that trail. It will take you to the water and then you can walk up and down the creek.

I caught a decent sized bass there a few years ago. Does anybody know if there is catfish in there?

Man I grew up on Slaughter Creek and loved every minute of it. But that was back in the days when this was considered the country. I’ve caught a ton of bass out of that creek. But I can also remember when I was rabbit hunting on the same land that Crockett high school sits on. But that has been many years a go.

When will bass and sunfish spawning begin on Slaughter Creek?
